Carpenter’s Block Mod adds customizable slopes, stairs, slabs, barriers and gates to the game! Have you ever needed stairs that matched a particular block? Or, have you ever wanted grass or snow to cover blocks besides dirt? This mod makes all this and more possible.
Crafting:
Create Slabs
To create a slab, you start with the Carpenter’s Block. This block has two functions: to allow any mod block to be overlaid with grass, snow, web or vine, and; to form vertical and horizontal slabs.
To shape it into a slab, right click the block with the Carpenter’s Hammer. The slab will form opposite of the side you hit. Carpenter’s Blocks placed adjacent to the slab will match the neighboring slab type automatically. Hold the sneak key while placing the block to override this behavior.
Usage:
- All slopes are made using the Carpenter’s Slope. Fences and walls are made using the Carpenter’s Barrier. Single and two-high gates are constructed using the Carpenter’s Gate.
- For slopes, type is determined by where on a block face you right click, and/or by the direction you are facing. For barriers, they will inherit type from neighboring Carpenter’s Barriers.
- For slopes, corners, oblique corners and pyramids are automatically constructed using a simple algorithm. Generally, if you place the corner piece last, it will form into a corner. Place the pyramid top last, and it will turn into a pyramid piece. Transformation-checking is not comprehensive, but is generally very good.
- If you wish to override block auto-orientation when placing slopes, hold the sneak key while placing the slope. Stair orientation is determined by direction, but also influenced by neighboring Carpenter’s Stairs when transforming to corners (much like vanilla stairs).
- Use the Carpenter’s Hammer to cycle through slopes, barriers, and stairs or to change the direction or thickness of certain blocks. Typical behavior is noted in the image above.
- The blocks are created as empty frames, and must be covered using regular block materials. Blocks that can be anticipated to texture correctly will be accepted as a cover. If a block won’t work as a cover, it is because it likely wouldn’t work anyways.
- The blocks can be overlaid using seeds, snowballs, vine or string. Seeds produce a grass surface on top, and vine and string will surround the block. Snowballs cover the block with a snowy surface.
- To remove an overlay or cover, you must destroy the frame (which is recoverable), or shift left click a covered or overlaid block with the Carpenter’s Hammer. The overlay will eject first, followed by the cover.
